Chemo 4

I know its been awhile since my last blog, but the last couple of weeks have been a struggle for me mentally.
After Chemo 3, I was admitted to hospital straight away to try and manage my sickness. However, the day after I woke up and was sick straight away. For a day and a half I was sick. I was discharged on the saturday afternoon which also happened to be my 5th wedding anniversary. It was kind of annoying that we couldn’t do anything special to celebrate. But my Father in law Graeme, cooks a mean sirloin steak!
For a few days after coming out of hospital I was a little emotional. I know I’m mean’t to be positive and strong but I got fed up of not being able to drink cold drinks, not knowing what I wanted to eat, my tastebuds being all over the place, my tummy was sore from where the needle from the syringe driver went in, having no energy and mostly not being able to do the things I wanted to with the kids.
Its better not knowing when your going to be sick, because for me knowing that I’m going to be sick every two weeks gets harder and harder to deal with.
On a more positive note, I have just finished chemo 4, which means two more before I get scanned to see if its doing what it is supposed to do.
So I’ve had the chemo and again I’ve been admitted to try and combat the sickness. This time an hour before my chemo I took a new tablet called Aprepitant. This supposed to be a stronger antisickness drug, so along with the Levomepromazine in the syringe driver and Ondansetron hopefully the sickness will stop.
This week the kids are in Blackpool staying with my brother in law Scott and his partner Andrew. They have been their since Monday and already they have gone to Blackpool Pleasure Beach to see Dora and Deigo in Nickelodeon Land, been to the Zoo, Blackpool Tower, Jungle Jims and had loads of icecream! Needless to say they are being spoilt rotten.
Its Sophies first day at Primary School on Tuesday and I want to feel well enough to take her!!
My fingers and toes are crossed for the next couple of days to be kind to me!

Katie, I have nothing but admiration for you with how you’re coping with the sickness. It knocks you about but you still manage to see the positives. You are such a strong person. I really hope the new anti sickness medication works for you, you deserve a bit of respite from it. Fingers crossed you’ll be ok for Tuesday.
